Who we are

TalkTogether is a service operated by JadeWarner ("we", "us"), trading as TalkTogether. We provide AI-powered translation, voice conversation, document translation and language-learning games. JadeWarner is the data controller for the personal data described in this policy — we decide what is collected and why. This policy explains what we do with the information you give us when you use the service.

What we process

  • Translation content. Text you type, audio you record, and video, audio or document files you upload are sent to our AI providers so they can be transcribed and translated, then returned to you.
  • Account data. If you sign in, we store your email address and authentication identifiers so we can keep you signed in and apply your plan.
  • Subscription data. Plan, billing status, renewal dates and payment-failure details. Card details are handled entirely by our payment processor — we never see or store them.
  • Usage counters. Daily counts of translations, documents and other actions, used to enforce free-plan limits.
  • On-device data. Translation history, phrasebook entries, game scores, streaks and theme choices are stored in your browser's local storage on your device.

Why we process it, and our legal basis

We process data to deliver the translations and features you ask for, to keep your account and subscription working, to enforce plan limits, to prevent abuse, and to fix problems with the service. Where the UK GDPR / EU GDPR applies, our legal bases are:

  • Performance of a contract — providing translation, conversation, document and account features you request, and managing your subscription.
  • Legitimate interests — securing the service, preventing abuse and fraud, enforcing plan limits, and improving reliability.
  • Legal obligation — keeping tax, billing and accounting records.
  • Consent — where we ask for it, such as optional cookies or marketing messages; you can withdraw consent at any time.

Who we share it with

We share only what is needed with service providers who run parts of the product for us: AI model providers (for transcription and translation), our hosting and database provider, and professional advisers or authorities where the law requires it. We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use your translation content for advertising.

Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com Market Ltd, which acts as the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle handles payment, billing, sales tax, invoicing, subscription management, returns and related customer enquiries, and processes your billing details as its own controller under Paddle's privacy notice. We receive only your subscription status, plan and limited billing metadata — never your card details.

Some of these providers are located outside the UK/EEA. Where data is transferred internationally we rely on adequacy decisions or Standard Contractual Clauses with appropriate safeguards.

Security

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data: traffic is encrypted in transit with TLS, data is encrypted at rest by our hosting provider, access to account data is restricted by row-level database policies so you can only reach your own records, administrative access is limited to those who need it, and card data never touches our systems. No system is perfectly secure, but we review these measures as the service changes.

How long we keep it

Translation content is processed to produce your result and is not kept in our database as part of a saved history — history you see in the app lives on your device and is removed when you clear it or clear your browser data. Account and subscription records are kept while your account exists and for as long as we need them for billing and legal records.

Your rights and choices

  • Clear your on-device history and phrasebook at any time from within the app.
  • Manage or cancel your subscription from the Account page.
  • Delete your account, which removes your account and usage records.
  • Subject to local law (including the UK/EU GDPR), you can ask us to access, correct, erase, restrict or port your data, object to processing based on legitimate interests, and withdraw consent. Contact us at the address below and we'll respond within one month.
  • If you're in the UK/EEA you can also complain to your data protection supervisory authority.

Cookies and local storage

We use essential cookies and browser local storage to keep you signed in, remember your theme and language choices, and store on-device history, phrasebook entries and game progress. Paddle sets cookies necessary to complete checkout. We don't use advertising cookies. You can clear cookies and local storage at any time in your browser settings — doing so signs you out and removes on-device data.

Children

TalkTogether is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal data.

Changes

If we make a material change to this policy we will update the date at the top of this page.
